The commercial pharmacy job can entail a variety of tasks.

Firstly, for a pharmaceutical company conducting research and development and subsequently clinical trials the presence of a pharmacist adds credibility as well as expertise to the process. Within this process, the pharmacist will be expected to manage the process to ensure it is both safe and effective for the purpose developing pharmaceuticals to a point where they are commercially viable entities.

At the other end of the process, commercial pharmacy jobs can be customer fronting on behalf of a pharmaceutical company. At a senior level, eminent pharmacists with strong backgrounds in both pharmacy jobs and research are often employed to perform commercial roles as key opinion leaders performing talks at exhibitions and conferences on behalf of pharmaceutical companies.

For a pharmacist who enjoys patient and the frontline role in patient care, commercial pharmacist jobs are not for you. However, if you enjoy the cut and thrust of life in large Blue chip organisations with the buzz of profit and loss in amongst a mass of employees, these may be roles for consideration.

If you are attracted to commercial pharmacy jobs, you will first need to cut your cloth in a variety of jobs in pharmacy. In plain terms, you will only become a potential asset a commercial company when you have a broad and high level of experience in your trade, and have earned some kind of status of authority within it.
