In pharmaceuticals in recent years the weight of responsibility to decide on product usage has migrated up the NHS management tree in a bid to control costs. With has come a greater need for people skilled in NHS Liaison jobs.
In the Uk there still exists the impossible trend of increasing demand for NHS resources alongside a decreasing resource to meet this with. Consequently this has left the government scrambling to find ways to limit and reduce NHS spending in the face of soaring demand.
The result has been the introduction of NHS management structures tasked to rationalise the usage of pharmaceuticals in a bid to reduct overall costs. In plain English, this means there are becoming fewer but more powerful decision makers for the pharmaceutical companies to sell to. Hence, NHS Liaison jobs are there to target these key NHs decision makers and remove the barriers to prescribing below which they can put in place to prevent Doctors from using medicines. In essence, these people are pharmaceutical 'hit men'.
There are two broad qualifications for this role, firstly you need to be very experienced in the industry to fully understand the issue at stake, secondly, you need to be very good! Mistakes at this level can be very costly!
